Each diner has something a little different to set it apart from the pack. For Yorktown Coach Diner, that something, Sylvia discovered, is a mashed potato omelette.

Fresh off the plane from a quick trip abroad, I was jonesing for two things: Fresh fruits & veggies and a breakfast not heavy on bread, butter and noodles.
Off to the diner we went! A co-worker who recently moved into Westchester had suggested a visit to the Yorktown Coach Diner based on the fact that it had a mashed potato omelette.
That omelette was called Yorktown’s Favorite Omelette. It was essentially a baked potato in omelette form. It had mashed potatoes, bacon, chedder and swiss cheese, sour cream and scallions enrobed in eggs. I was really looking to go a bit lighter to counter all the heavy foods I ate over vacation, but when in Rome, right?
The omelette was actually really good despite how heavy it sounds. It was thin and well layered without being too heavy on any one of the fillings. It was a touch cheesy, but not overwhelmingly so.
The omelette also came with a side of potatoes, which is where I drew the line. That would have been too much, so they went untouched.
The czar says: That omelette was certainly unique and well executed. Yorktown Coach seems like a rather popular diner, given how busy it was for a Saturday morning. I can see why. It was sunny inside and the service was quick. While the other meals enjoyed by Jeffrey and Reid were typical diner quality, I think Yorktown Coach is worth a visit for the special omelettes.

The Case: The Yorktown Coach Diner vs. The Westchester Breakfast Club (Short Squad)
The Venue: Yorktown Heights, near the KMart.
The Facts: I must admit to being a bit distracted during this meal. I had some work stuff going on that had me paying 50% of my attention to my friends and my food, and 50% of my attention to my iPhone, frantically waiting for a paralegal to wake up and email me. Fortunately, the food at Yorktown Coach was not something that required much attention, nor was I ever distracted by anybody callously refilling the hot water for my tea.
The Verdict: It’s a diner. You’ve eaten at 30 or 40 of them just like it.
