We know what you’re thinking. An oyster bar for breakfast? But look beyond the name and you’ll discover that Ruby’s serves up a pretty scrumptious weekend brunch. And the oysters aren’t half bad either.

Ruby’s is a warm bistro located on the main drag through Rye. Tiled floors, dark wood tones with a bright raw bar in the back.
It seems that Ruby serves breakfast from 8am – 11:30am Mondays thru Saturdays, which has a separate menu.
On Sundays it’s the brunch menu. After looking through the menu over and over again, unable to make a decision, our waitress pointed out the specials listed on the big board behind the raw bar.
My decision was made.
We started with an oyster each (when in Rome). I had a Sweetneck oyster. It was cold, and delicious. For my main meal, I had the Lobster, asparagus, brie fritatta. The fritatta was pretty good. There were plenty of good sized chunks of lobster (real!) interspersed with crunchy asparagus. Three thick slices of brie were melted atop the fritatta. After I polished it off, I was full.
Coffee was noticeably good quality…something to note!
While the meal was a bit pricey (it came to $27 per person), it was not overly so for the quality received.
The dessert menu looked really tempting, but in an attempt to diversify our morning, we decided to dessert up the street at the Patisserie Salzburg. A cute little cafe with all sorts of delicious baked goods of all kinds, from an assortment of croissants to muffins to slices of special cakes. We settled on sharing some bread pudding, and I got a chocolate croissant for later.
The bread pudding was delicious. Not soggy, perfectly moist, and just the right amount of crisp and chocolate swirled between one layer. The chocolate croissant I saved for later that night. It was really good. The croissant could be a touch flakier (although that might have been more of a function of sitting in my car call day), but there was a very generous strip of chocolate through the center.
The czar says: I’d love to go back to Ruby’s for brunch or lunch or even dinner. Perfect place for a special family outing or even a date (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Patisserie Salzburg, we need to go back for breakfast and try a quiche or one of their sandwiches…and another chocolate croissant!

Ruby’s Oyster Bar is a nice place for breakfast. I ordered the California Dggs Benedict, which was one of the day’s specials. We also got some oysters, which may be unorthodox for breakfast, but I think it’s always a good time for oysters. In the end, Rubys is a great place and I would recommend it to anyone looking for breakfast.
