It’s been almost a year and a half of breakfast fun (and countless inappropriate conversations!). And now, the WBC is so excited to be joining the ranks of the Westchester food scene (if we could be so bold as to say we’re joining the ranks of the Westchester food scene).
What are we talking about?
The WBC’s moving on up.
We ate a special breakfast at Sylvia’s new place. However, only one review was produced. So here it is.
Jeffrey
In an almost snap decision, we decide to have breakfast at Sylvia’s new place. Exciting, I know! So, I just need to swing by White Plains to pick Andrew up from the train station and then Trader Joe’s for some supplies, and then we’re off! Wait! We need to stop off in Tarrytown for a box of coffee from Coffee Labs. Totally worth it!
So, I guess I’m supposed to review this as I do any other place…
We arrive in the parking lot and we call Sylvia to let us in. Pat comes to the rescue and opens the front door. (Editor’s Note: It was actually Shelley who ran down the three flights of stairs to the rescue to let Jeffrey and Andrew into the building. The Editor is a bit offended that Jeffrey doesn’t seem to be able to draw a distinction between Shelley and Pat.) As I enter the establishment, I was greeted with the lovely music from Shelley’s iPod and her specially made brunch play list. The play list was strong with good hits from the early 00’s to now, and slight dips into the late 90’s. There were some questionable choices, for example, I noticed that there was a point when I thought I was standing in an elevator (Editor’s Note: It was Spanish guitar music, not elevator music), but then Shelley, with her trusty remote, fast-forwarded to the next song, which sounded like it came from the Gray’s Anatomy soundtrack (Editor’s Note: It wasn’t from the Gray’s Anatomy soundtrack). The remote came in handy later when we needed to pause the music. Patrick was showing off the Stephen Colbert version of Rebecca Black’s Friday. Much better than the original, in my opinion.
Now, we review the food. There was a lot of it. The day before, Sylvia and I picked up some Cinnamon Swirl Bread with Raisins from The Kneaded Bread. Made into French Toast, it was amazing! I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s just good. Other than that, there were some scrambled eggs, hash browns, and Sylvia made some potato hash the night before. I was happy. I love potatoes. Also, Andrew picked up some apple-smoked bacon at Trader Joe’s. It too was delicious. The meal was incredibly filling.
All in all, Chez Sylvia’s is a good place to go for brunch. Price wise, I suppose it’s good. I did shell out a good amount of money for supplies and then another good amount for the coffee. But I suppose in the long run it’s worth it, as long as it buys me a place to sleep every once in a while.
We’re back to doing breakfast! Shelley was so happy it was the weekend that she couldn’t stop singing the Friday Song. Please stop Shelley. Please stop.
